Blog 5 Joey Ruggiero

This commercial tells it all hip-hop artists convey themselves in any way possible. Chris brown... now on trial for the Rihanna beat down isn't a person that I would want to advertise for my company but none the less his commerical does have a catchy ring and does kindof make me want to go out and get some gum. This does how ever blur the image that some hip-hop artists are trying to make for themselves which is not one where they just parade themselves for chewing gum sales. Alot of artists today are though using advertising to boost sales to make people want to listen to their music and to get their name out there. Which is unfortunatley blurring the true hip hop image...

  1. Yes, I agree with that Joey. Hip hop artist will literally do anything they possibly can to get there name out there that much more. And may i add, to make a quick buck too.

  2. Ya i have to agree with you. They see a famous artist advertising a product, so that makes the product very good which results in people going out and buying it. If they got someone else to promote it i doubt they would get the same feedback.

  3. I agree, who wants to be that guy on the gum commercial? That's really gunna get you some street cred...Anyway you make a great point in that artists will use any means to get their name out there every chance they get. Plus, who wouldn't want the extra endorsement money, you know.

  4. You know, I get the feeling that advertising and hip hop are blending now because they need each other to survive. I mean, they both benefit from making a commercial, radio ad or billboard. The company is using a famous person to sell their product and the famous person is getting their name out. Its a win win situation.

  6. Brilliant comment made by Chad with the win-win situation. The line between music and marketing is very blurred indeed.
